Erotic Fiction is a genre that has often been subject to criticism and taboo. There has been attempted censorship and banning over the years and it still to this day a genre that many people frown upon.
We here at Random Genre Month don't though. In fact, we have randomly chosen it thrice. In 2012 a good amount of our competitors put Erotic Fiction as their genres.
Erotic Fiction has it's place in ancient history. There are early poems of this genre dating back to ancient Greece and Rome. Erotic Fiction grew more popular in the seventeenth century where books like The Life and Adventures of Miss Fanny Hill were published.
Almost immediately after these books were published, they were subject to criticism, yet the writing continued and remained popular. Even when laws tried to rid the world of the writings with the Obscene Publications Act of 1857, erotic fiction is still a popular genre to this day, especially with novels such as Fifty Shades of Grey.
