We've been keeping track of the genres that people like most on our site and we're finally here to show you what genres you liked the most.
We had a very large response to our polls and feedback and we drew the numbers from a few different sources on the site from the past few years. What we found out is that the genres are, for the most part, equally spread out. There were a few that stood out, though. The winner by far was Horror Fiction, which accounted for 11% of the votes. Personally, the latter is one of the genres that I hope gets picked this Saturday. I've never written it before but I think it would be fun.
In second, there was a tie at 9% between a few genres. Science Fiction which we did our first year, Young Adult/Youth, Adventure, and Fantasy.
Most of the other genres were in the 5-7% range with a few falling below at four percent. The two that did were Mainstream Fiction and Religious/New Age, two that we have never done before at Random Genre Month.
With a majority wanting genres such as Horror and Fantasy, maybe it would be a benefit to writers everywhere if one of the least enjoyable genres are chosen. They tend to be genres that you don't hear about all of the time but maybe more people will start to enjoy it if they start to write it.
This Saturday we'll find out who's going to write what and we'll see if the popular genres are the ones that are chosen.
See you then,
Jack
