So let me give you a little rundown about each genre.
Adventure: I try to stay away from Adventure novels. Both reading and writing them. Usually a book has adventure in it, but the cliché adventure ninjas or pirates or anything like that, I try to stay away from, but I do like when there is a bit of risk involved in a novel and there are other forms of adventure I could do, so it wouldn't be too bad. So if adventure is the one that I decide to do, I'll stay away from the cliché.
Chick Lit: Unless it's this, Erotic Fiction, and Romance Fiction, I probably wouldn't do this genre, but it's respectable. I wouldn't read it unless it was necessary but that's just because it's not something I'd be interested in. I wouldn't like to write a novel about someone that, according to Wikipedia, "may be obsessed with appearance or have a passion for shopping" because that's just not something I write about.
Erotic Fiction: Can I just get something out of the way here? No. No offense to any writers of this genre, but with any combination of genres, there would be something I'd write over this.
Fan Fiction: Fan fiction. Once again, not necessarily my favorite genres, but I would feel moderately comfortable if this one was picked. It could be my fall-back genre if the other two were bad, but it would not be my first choices. I like the idea of it, taking someone else's novel and then adding on to it, or telling a story using one of the other characters or however you would like to do Fan Fiction. I think it would be fun, but I wouldn't count on my writing it.
Fantasy: I used to love fantasy, and I still kind of do, but not as much. I don't like the princesses and the dragons and things like that but I love when there's magic or something in another world. If this genre gets picked, I'll be brought back to my very first few years of writing, when I did fantasy all the time!
Historical Fiction: It depends on the era. Certain eras I would absolutely love to read or write about, and some eras I wouldn't want to write from at all, but, since the era is not a randomly decided factor (though that could be a possible challenge) I would be fine with Historical Fiction. It would require a lot of research and I would probably become obsessed with the era in which I was writing from, and that could turn out bad for me, but I wouldn't mind Historical Fiction one bit.
Horror and Supernatural: I would love to love this genre. I love every single aspect about this genre except for one thing, I don't like being scared. I love the possibilities with horror and I have great ideas for it, even though I don't like to think about them because they creep me out. Maybe this will be the year, though, that I finally write a horror novel. I can do without sleeping.
Literary Fiction: I'll admit that I don't really understand this genre. I guess it focuses more on the characters than the story and I kind of like that. It would be something new for me if that was the genre chosen, so I would accept that challenge.
Mainstream Fiction: This genre intrigues me. It can contain any, if not all, genres (wouldn't that be a challenge) and you can break all the rules, if necessary. This could be considered a RGM Wild Card, I guess, because it can be anything and everything.
Mystery and Suspense: I love this genre. Well, I love reading it, but writing it would be a bit frightening. I almost did this genre last year, but SciFi came through in the end. One day I will take on this task. Will it be this year? If so then I'll have to try and not hint too much at the guilty party, which I tend to do, and I'd try not to be blatantly obvious about things. I'd have to do some work in preparation for this genre.
Religions/New Age: Another one that I'd not enjoy doing. I don't think that writing about religion is something I'd want to do. Not much more to say about that.
Romance: Yet another one I'd try to avoid. I wouldn't want to write a novel about romance. It's just something I'm not a fan of.
Satire, Humor, and Parody: I really would like to try this genre, but the task of making someone laugh would be a struggle for me. I mean I can make people laugh, but it's only with people I know really well. I have a good idea for this, though, and I'd take on the challenge if it was offered to me.
Science Fiction: This is the genre I did last year. Well, I kind of bent the rules and did a YA SciFi novel. I love Science Fiction, but, once again, not the cliché type with the aliens and everything. More like dystopian or some futuristic thing. SciFi is just a fun genre.
Young Adult/Youth: I love this genre. This, more or less, is what most of my novels are. I kind of hope that this year it's not chosen because I want a challenge. You hear that? I want something that will push me, and that is the reason for Random Genre Month.
