While I have been talking a lot about the other members of the staff, I have noticed that many of you don't know much about me. That's all going to change.
I guess I should begin by saying that I have been writing for most of my life. Even at the age of four I would begin to write stories. I have always been a writer but I could never finish anything.
That is, until NaNoWriMo.
I first did NaNoWriMo in 2009 and absolutely loved it. I fell behind about halfway through the month but then caught up and ended up finishing five days early. After that I had the ability to sit down and write a novel, sometimes in as few as eight days. That's not to say that they're good novels, but they're still novels.
The next year I was looking for a little more competition so I created Random Genre Month for not only a bit of a challenge but so I could finally bring myself to write a historical fiction or a horror novel. I still Have yet to do that, but one of these days those genres will be chosen. Last year I was introduced to a new genre, Mystery. I'll come out and say that it was probably one of my worst novels, but I'm glad that I had the experience to write it.
Besides writing and doing competitions like NNWM, RGM, or Script Frenzy, I love to run. I also love to read and, as my bio says, learn languages.
Yes, I am a linguaphile. It all started with French. I've been obsessed for years and I finally began to learn the language. Then one thing led to another and now I'm in the middle of learning not only French (which I have a good grasp on) but also conversational Farsi and Modern Standard Arabic. I hope to one day be able to communicate in multiple languages and at the moment I love working on learning them.
That's about it for me. I'm glad that I have the chance to share my love of writing with you through Random Genre Month and I look forward to writing a novel with you this January.
86 days until the genre Picking and 107 days till Random Genre Month!
