What is Random Genre Month?
Random Genre Month is a fun, new writing competition in which you right a 50,000 word novel from one of three randomly chosen genres getting you to try new things and experience new styles of writing that you would never have tried before.
Why should you do Random Genre Month, you ask? Well, to say you wrote a novel. How many people can say that? Plus it may be a novel of a genre you've never written before. What if you find out you love writing that genre and you publish your book and eventually become a world-renowned author? There are times when people come across RGM and are a little hesitant because they don't know the genres and they're afraid to try it. That's the purpose of Random Genre Month, to push you past your comfort level of writing. Perhaps you'll thank us some day.
If (and when) you finish, you can look at your completed novel and think about how amazing you are for writing that. Then you have all the rights to brag to your friends, because most of them probably have never written a novel in a month, let alone one of a strange genre.

So how does RGM work?
In December, the three genres are chosen and you have the entire month to plan your novel. Then on January first you being writing. You can write using whatever you like. Type it, handwrite it, scratch it into a wall, whatever. Starting that day there will be a little bar on the top of the page where you can update your word count. The amount of words per day to stay on track is 1613 and you keep writing until you get to 50,000, or wherever you want to stop, and then you can verify and be an official winner for Random Genre Month!
Rules
-To be an official winner you have to write AT LEAST 50,000 words in the thirty one days starting on January 1st writing one of the three genres.
